| Bio: | Name: Ororo Munroe Codename: Storm Age/DOB: 23 - May 27th, 1985 Affiliation: X-Men Position: Staff Background: Ororo Munroe is the descendant of an ancient line of African priestesses, all of whom have white hair, blue eyes, and the potential to wield magic. Her mother, N'dare, was an African princess who married American photojournalist David Monroe and moved with him to Manhattan, where Ororo was born. When Ororo was six months old, one of David’s assignments took the family from Harlem to Cairo, Egypt, where they would stay for the next years. In her earliest childhood, N’Dare showed her daughter a special ruby-crystal that had been in their family for a long time. Five years later, during the Arab-Israeli conflict, a plane crashed into their home. Ororo's parents were killed, but she survived, buried under rubble near her mother's body. The resultant trauma left Ororo with severe claustrophobia that still affects her today. Ororo managed to escape the rubble of her shattered home with nothing but the tattered clothes on her back and her mother's ancestral ruby. Homeless and orphaned, Ororo was found by a gang of street urchins who took her to their master, Achmed el-Gibar. For the next six years Storm lived with Achmed El-Gibar and other street urchins. Achmed taught Storm to be a thief. She soon became his prize pupil, excelling in picking both pockets and locks. During her time in Cairo, Ororo picked the pocket of an American tourist. The man proved no easy mark, however, as he was Charles Xavier, a powerful mutant telepath who used his abilities to stop the theft, but before he could fully investigate her the Shadow King distracted him and she escaped. At the age of 12, feeling that there was more to life, Storm left Cairo and traveled through the Sahara desert to her mother's homeland of Kenya. During her travels, Ororo always had dreams of her family, the love she had felt, and she would wake crying even as rain came down on her from her sadness. She ended up in another village of thieves, and one day she stole a camera from a tourist bringing down their wraith on her. She was hurt by tranquilizers and a young man came saving her from that man. Later at the age of twelve she become a women with that man, his name,T'Challa. He stayed in their village for a while, but the man he had left behind came back. He wanted to kill T'Challa for his humiliating him, and he wanted Ororo for his own reasons. Him and his brother went out again killed her whole village, captured T'Chala and her, but her skills, and then her harnessing finally her powers save both of them. From that moment, she swore never to take another human's life because she had seen too much of it. The pair spent much time together after their ordeal, however T'Challa's duties as a prince prevented them from further exploring their burgeoning mutual attraction. Ororo wandered for thousands of miles, almost dying during her trek across the Sahara Desert. Her mutant ability to psionically control the weather keeping her some what alive after parting from her first love, and lover, T'Challa. Finally, Ororo reached her ancestors' homeland on the Serengeti Plain in Kenya. She was taken in by an elderly tribal woman named Ainet who taught her to be responsible with her powers. The next several years Storm lived the life of a goddess to the tribes. But one day Xavier came to her asked her to help him with the school he was starting as he had been keeping an eye on her ever since his first run in with her, and was very impressed with her. Realizing that it was time to challenge herself Storm accepted his offer and went to New York. Personality: Storm is a strong character and capable leader who has been at times the backbone of the X-Men. Her courage and caring makes her a trusted confidant to many of the X-Men. Her wisdom and cool headedness has earned their respect, and allows most all of them to accept her as their leader, even the sometimes single minded Wolverene. She's a bit strict, and can be overbearing toward the younger people in her life. However, it is only because she cares about them that she sometimes is so harsh on them. She also would rather put herself in harms way then any of those that she cares about. However, because of Storm's psionic powers over the weather, and them being affected by her emotions if she does not maintain control of her emotions, a fit of rage might induce a destructive storm. So at times she almost seems cold, distant, or a bit aloof when she really isn't. Abilities: Weather control Storm has demonstrated a plethora of abilities, most of which are facets of her power to control the weather. Storm possesses the psionic ability to control all forms of weather over vast areas. She has been able to control the ecosystem on both a global and cosmic scale on several occasions. She can control the temperature of the environment, control all forms of precipitation, humidity and moisture, generate lightning and other electromagnetic atmospheric phenomena, and has demonstrated excellent control over atmospheric pressure. She can incite all forms of meteorological tempests, such as tornadoes, thunderstorms, blizzards, and is capable of summoning a hurricane, as well as mist. She can dissipate such weather to form clear skies as well. Her precise control over the atmosphere allows her to create special weather effects. She can create precipitation at higher or lower altitudes than normal, make whirlwinds travel pointing lengthwise in any direction, absorb ambient electromagnetism and output it as electric blasts from her body, flash freeze objects and people, coalesce atmospheric pollutants into acid rain or toxic fog, and summon wind currents strong enough to support her weight to elevate herself to fly at high altitudes and speeds. Storm has shown to be sensitive to the dynamics of the natural world, and her psionic powers over weather are affected by her emotions. One consequence of this connection to nature is that she often suppresses extreme feelings to prevent her emotional state from resulting in violent weather. She has sensed a diseased and dying tree on the X-Mansion grounds, detected objects within various atmospheric mediums--including water, and sensed the incorrect motion of a hurricane in the Northern Hemisphere and the gravitational stress on the tides by the Moon and Sun as well as the distortion of a planet's magnetosphere. Storm's mutant abilities are limited by her willpower and the strength of her body. Combat and thievery Storm is a skilled thief, markswoman, and a gifted hand-to-hand fighter, trained by Achmed el-Gibar, Professor X, and eventually Wolverine too. By using superior strategy, Storm has overcome physically stronger foes in hand-to-hand combat. Storm is an excellent marksman with handguns. Storm is also fluent in Arabic and Swahili. As part of her paraphernalia, Storm carries a set of lock-picks (with which she has an extraordinary ability at picking locks) and her ancestral ruby, which allows inter-dimensional transportation with the help of her lightning. Physical abilities and traits Storm's physiology grants her a total immunity to extreme weather conditions and temperatures of heat and cold. Her body compensates for rapid decreases or increases in atmospheric pressure. She can see in near-complete darkness and has superb dexterity. Storm has been described as having one of the strongest wills among the X-Men, making her highly resistant to psychic attacks especially in tandem with electrical fields she creates around herself. Telepaths have found it difficult to track her down and probe her thoughts. Several of these traits are independent of her mutant status and are a result of her ancestry.
